Sludge Thickener
Sludge formed in domestic and industrial
wastewater treatment plants is taken into sludge thickening units in order to increase the efficiency of sludge dewatering units by increasing solid ratio of sludge.
In sludge thickening units, the solid substance ratio is increased from 1% to 3-5%.
Sludge thickeners rotate slowly and in this way ensure separation of liquid and solid phases from each other. As a result, the liquid phase goes above and the solid phase settles to the bottom. The sludge accumulating at the bottom is then taken into a sludge collecting cone via sludge thickener pallets.
Sludge thickeners are usually manufactured with fixed bridges and as centrally-driven units. The thickener is formed of a bridge, a drive part, stirrer shafts, brush collectors, and scraper pallets.
